Population of Endangered Mountain Gorillas Increases 26% since 2006
After December 2010 survery of the
Virunga Volcanoes it is now estimated that there are 480 mountain
gorillas living there. This ecosystem covers
Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda,
Mgahinga
Gorilla National Park in Uganda, and
Uganda and Parc National des Virunga in DR Congo.
This
represents an annual population growth rate of 3.7% and 73% of the
Gorillas have been habituated to humans for trekking visits.
